The exact return for Pittsburgh is not yet known, but according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the Pirates will be getting a young pitcher and international bonus pool money.

Nova should help solidify the 2019 White Sox rotation. Chicago had been looking to add starting pitching depth, with James Shields now a free agent and star prospect Michael Kopech set to miss the entire year as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

The 31-year-old Nova has been solid for the Pirates since he arrived in a trade from the Yankees in mid-2016. Last season, he had a 4.19 ERA in 29 starts for Pittsburgh with 114 strikeouts in 161 innings. Nova will be a free agent following the ’19 season, during which he is set to make just over $9 million on the final year of his contract.
